What was it that made you want to become a hair and makeup artist?

I started Sarah Hicken Artistry three years ago and found my dream job as a Utah wedding hair and makeup artist. The best part of my job is being able to help someone feel beautiful and confident. I love being able to help a bride feel like the best version of herself on the best day of her life. As a master esthetician, I am able to build beauty that is truly skin deep so that makeup can have the best canvas!

 

Why should I hire a hair and makeup artist for my wedding?

As a bride, you have invested money in a photographer, a dress, flowers to help you look gorgeous. Why not invest in hair and makeup so you look like the best version of yourself in those photos? On every client I use my professional kit with the best products that will last through all the happy tears, sweat and long dance parties!

What about my engagement or formal session? Should I hire you for that too?

I always recommend hair and makeup for any photo session, but especially engagements. Makeup in the camera looks very different than it does in real life. The camera takes away about 70% of any makeup you are wearing, so it is important to add a little extra. As a professional makeup artist, I know how to help you look the best in your photos without making the makeup look cakey or overdone.

 

Do you travel, or should I come to you?

Both of those are options. I can do your hair and makeup at my work location and I can also provide all of my services on location. You don’t need to stress about traffic or weather because I can travel to any location!

 

What if I need hair and makeup done for my bridesmaids or family too?

Depending on the size of your bridal party, I have a team of talented hair and makeup artists that I bring with me. We have worked with bridal parties of up to 16 people. Having a team eliminates any additional stress of having to hire different artists for your friends and family.

After I hire you, what’s the process like?

After we have a signed contract for your wedding day and the retainer is paid, we will schedule dates for your trial run, engagements, bridals, and wedding day. Then I will create a schedule for the hair and makeup applications for you and your bridal party. This allows Jessie and Dallin to capture those perfect getting ready shots and it will also provide you with peace of mind as you know exactly what to expect of me and my team.

Helping you to feel beautiful and confident by the time you step out of my chair is my number one priority. I customize the entire experience to you and your preferences. Whether it is how much volume you want in your hair, the products used during the mini facial, or how glam or natural you want your makeup, everything is customized to you! No matter the style, I want to make sure that you feel like the best possible version of yourself!
