Gama & Sarai
Sarai walked, with bouquet in hand, down the aisle towards Gamaliel, her soon to be husband. Sarai’s veil and train were incredible, something to behold! MANY feet long, it trailed behind her, and fulfilled her dream of feeling and looking like a princess. Since Sarai is self-proclaimed as being “pretty emotional, with a splash of drama”, we think this fit perfectly for their rustic mountain destination wedding at Oak Hills Utah.
Sarai and Gamaliel chose to include in their vows a lasso made of a rope, symbolizing the two of them tying themselves together as well as to God. As their officiant explained, it was made with three strands, one representing each of them, and one representing God. This was because two strands can pull away from each other in tension, but adding a third strand was to involve more equality in their relationship. The lasso was then tied into a knot, symbolizing tying their lives together with God. It was said, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
One of the most entertaining moments of the night was the money dance for Gamaliel and Sarai. As a song played in the background, friends and family gifted money to the two of them to start out their marriage by pinning money to Gamaliel and Sarai’s clothing, including a long tail of bills for Gamaliel, and another bill fashioned to look like a feather in Sarai’s hair. It was a moment that showed the love and support Gamaliel and Sarai had from their family.
