Hannah & Sam
Symbols are an important part of our culture and society. Without them, the poets of the world would have nothing to write about, and religion would be almost non-existent. So many parts of an engagement and wedding day are filled with symbolism to remind us of the importance of the relationship, and also the love that is shared. Although each wedding is as different as the couple being united together, the engagement/wedding ring is one symbol that is almost universally prevalent. It’s a symbol of love and devotion that almost everyone uses to show that they are officially getting married. During their Great Salt Lake winter engagement session at Antelope Island, we found out that Hannah and Sam took this symbol even further to make it more personal to them.
Sam wanted a unique and custom ring that meant something special to Hannah, so he designed the band of the ring to look like a piece of twisted string. His idea came from The Count of Monte Cristo, where Mercedes wears a ring of string that she never removes from her finger, to show her devotion to Dante, the main character. The Count of Monte Cristo is Hannah’s favorite book, and the symbol of a string ring means no matter the amount of money or any other circumstance, that they will have a love that will last.
There are only a few times of year that it is possible to shoot at Antelope Island, so we were excited to take Hannah and Sam here. The combination of the Great Salt Lake paired with the wind coming off the lake were almost like a pairing of Sam being from the beachy areas of California, and Hannah from the windy plains of Wyoming. After adding in a glowing sky, we could not have dreamed a setting any more perfect, other than maybe a little bit warmer weather!
Hannah and Sam, we had so much fun with you during your Great Salt Lake winter engagement session out at Antelope Island! We loved getting to know you both better, and are so excited for your future together! You two were such tough cookies in the cold wind!
