Fun Friday – Our Visit to Ogden’s Dinosaur Park

This Friday Fun post is all about what we have been up to the past few weeks! Since it was Jessie’s birthday two weeks ago, we’re going to talk all about what we ended up doing. After having Liam, our birthdays have become a little bit different. Instead of doing something that only makes us happy, we want to go do something fun for all of us. Everyone loves dinosaurs, and Liam is one of the biggest dinosaur fans we know! We knew we needed to get out and take him to Dinosaur Park, and it was the perfect weather to do it!

Dinosaur Park in Ogden is a hidden gem. We’ve talked to so many local Utahans who have never even heard of it! It’s an indoor and outdoor museum complete with hundreds of dinosaur statues, interactive activities, exhibits, and more. We have both been to the Dinosaur Park so many times, especially when we were little and on elementary school field trips, but the last time that we went was in 2011 after we first got married. It’s changed a lot since then! We found out that they are updating the dinosaur models right now to match the new research coming out about each. This might mean raptors getting feathers, or even just a new paint job! The dinosaurs that have been recently remodeled look incredible!

One of our favorite things was the outdoor tour with one of the docents, which made the visit a lot of fun for us as adults. We learned some awesome facts about different dinosaurs! For example, did you know that Triceratops really only have two horns? That front third “horn” was made of keratin, which is the same material in our finger nails!

We also loved visiting the active paleontology lab that they have on site. The workers gave us a small tour and showed us all kind of different tools and fossils (and were very patient with us when Liam begged to see one of the toy dinosaurs in the lab).

Inside the museum they also have one animatronic dinosaur display featuring a Triceratops, her babies, and a T-Rex. Liam absolutely loved it and would have sat and watched that for hours if we would have let him!

Definitely go check out Dinosaur Park if you haven’t yet. If you like dinosaurs (and everyone does) you’ll love it!
