Emily & Todd
Diamonds and twine. Two things that seem to be exactly opposite of each other are lyrics in a song used as a promise to love when times are good or bad. Another phrase that comes to mind is, “come what may, and love it.” Having this mentality is key to not only have a good experience on your wedding day, but also to have a happy and lasting marriage. During our Bountiful Temple and Mueller Park formal session with Emily and Todd, we could tell that these two very much have an attitude of love and support for each other, no matter what. This is so true that even when things go a little sideways, such as having a bloody nose, a bloody toe, or even really crazy winds, you are still being able to look at each other and laugh!
As photographers, we can figure out how to handle the blood or wind, and we even have a few tricks to get you to look genuinely happy when you’re a little stressed. However, to see Emily and Todd face a little adversity and shrug it off, smile, and laugh with little prompting from us was a sure sign of a great relationship.
Emily and Todd got engaged this past spring at Mueller Park in Bountiful. Todd suggested that they go hiking up the trail in the snow and mud into Mueller Park. Unbeknownst to Emily, this was where he had hung black and white photos of the two of them before they met as well as color photos after they met on twine in between trees. Right in the center of the twine was a diamond ring, which Todd used to propose. This idea was from their song “Diamonds and Twine,” meaning that no matter what, they’d promise to love and commit to each other.
Ironically, the place that we chose to shoot the formal session with Emily and Todd happened to be at almost exactly the same location that Todd had proposed. Even though there was a bloody nose and a bloody toe that seemed to happen by random chance, these two lived up to their promise to each other at that spot earlier this year, and didn’t let this affect their session. Even though these problems were relatively small, we took this as a sign that Emily and Todd are truly committed to each other, and will live up to the promises they will make on their big day.
Emily and Todd, you are perfect for each other! The love that you have for each other is readily evident to anyone who meets you. We are so excited for you wedding and had a blast at your Bountiful Temple and Mueller Park formal session! We hope that these photos will be some that you can use throughout your lives to be reminded of the love that you share.
