The Salt Lake Temple and Eldredge Manor were a perfect combination for this wedding and reception. Eldredge Manor was elegant, and the food was to die for! During our five-minute break to snarf down food, we tried a piece of cheesecake. It was by far the best cheesecake we’ve ever had! We don’t think the day could have gone any better, even in the rain!
“We’re spies! If get our pictures taken, people will know our identity!” Four young boys whispered to us as they carefully crawled down the stairs. It took a lot of convincing, but they finally agreed that they needed pictures for their spy identifications. Through the cousins from each family making friends with each other, and family members making sacrifices, we saw a common theme during this wedding and reception at the Salt Lake Temple and Eldredge Manor: family. To Laura, Xan, and their families, family means that you’ll be there for each other, even if it’s in the rain, or if you have to travel across the country, or even if you’ve given birth the day before. When it’s a family member’s special day they’ll be there, because to them, that is how you show you care. That is how you show that you belong.
Xan and Laura have been waiting for this day to be reunited for months after Xan moved and has been living in North Carolina. During this time, Laura has been keeping busy by playing the organ while living in Arizona, where the two of them met. Here, they would go on walks that they would frequent at “their” park. This was one of their most favorite things to do, and also holds a special place in their hearts. So much, in fact, that Xan proposed to Laura at “their” park. Just from spending time with these two, you could tell that they are inseparable.
Laura served an LDS mission in Hong Kong. To recognize this, Laura and each of her bridesmaids wore pearls from China. We think this created some sort of lucky charm, because during pictures after their ceremony, we ran into her mission president and his wife!
