Tana & Dawn
“Rain on your wedding day is good luck and a sign of a relationship that will last…. For if you have ever tried to untie a knot after it has gotten wet – you know it’s nearly impossible.” Tana and Dawn sent this message to all of the vendors a few days before their wedding, assuring that rain or shine, they were tying the knot! The week leading up to their Park City Wedding at the Hyatt Centric we are sure that all of us were watching the weather to see if it was going to rain. Of course, Tana and Dawn have been planning their wedding for so long that they had back up plans to their back up plans for their wedding… but we all still hoped that mother nature would cooperate and give these ladies their dream day that they hoped for.
As we piled our equipment into our car to head up to the wedding in Park City, we checked one last time on our phones for the weather… 40% chance of rain all afternoon, which was right in the middle of the ceremony. As we reach Hyatt Centric and found Tana and Dawn, who were both getting ready, Dawn, in her bubbly, excited, voice said “it’s our photographers!!” and told us how the wedding was not going to see any rain as the weather had just updated!
Tana and Dawn had quite the crew to help them get ready. When you have two beautiful brides who need hair and makeup done, it can take a little while, and a few people as well. Right in the middle of the hustle and rushing back and forth to make sure everything was ready for both Tana and Dawn, a big, dark cloud could be seen coming over the mountains. We checked our phones to look at the weather, and sure enough… rain was going to come… right when the ceremony started.
No doubt, Tana and Dawn were mostly distracted by the finishing touches on their make-up, dresses, and family members to worry about the rain. But we think every single guest and vendor at the wedding looked outside and hoped, wished, and prayed that there would be even the slightest let up of the storm. When it was time for Tana and Dawn to line up to walk for their ceremony, the heavens suddenly went from gray… to blue. Minutes before the music started for the ceremony… the rain stopped… the sun broke through the clouds… and the wedding that Tana and Dawn had planned every waking minute for over a year was going to happen.
After their “I do’s” Tana and Dawn had a butterfly release planned. Family and friends meticulously placed over 150 butterflies from envelopes into a box to be opened to let them all out before they walked back down the aisle. However, since the weather was just warming back up, when the box lid was opened… the butterflies stayed in their cozy box. After a little coaching from Tana and Dawn, they started exiting the box and landing on their hands and dresses giving them literal butterfly kisses and well wishes. Days later, Tana and Dawn would report that they still saw their butterfly friends hanging around the Hyatt Centric in abundant numbers, reminding them of their perfect day.
Instead of gifts, Tana and Dawn asked for donations to the Ziegfeld Theater, who were performing Broadway tunes during their reception. With songs from Shrek the Musical to Rent, all guests were entertained and given the best show around. Between the performances, the weather, the vendors and staff, and the brides, if we were to sum up this Park City Wedding at the Hyatt Centric into one word, it would be this: perfect.
Tana and Dawn, we are so honored that you entrusted us to capture your wedding day! We love you both, and hope that you will continue to bring happiness to each other for the rest of your lives together and can experience many more sunsets together. Without further ado, here are your blog images! We hope you love them and that they bring as many smiles to your faces as they do to ours.
