Fun Friday – Ranking Our Favorite Halo Top Ice Cream

Our favorite ice cream is The Tonight Dough from Ben and Jerry’s. There’s one problem with it though, it’s like a billion calories. If you ever try to sit down with a pint of it and try to eat only one serving, it’s pretty much impossible. So then you are stuck with the guilt of what you’ve done. That’s the worst! This problem led us on the hunt to find some kind of frozen treat that wasn’t a billion calories. We ended up finding Halo Top Ice Cream. It’s high in protein, uses organic stevia and has around 300 calories for an entire pint, which is a huge win! This means that you don’t have to eat your ice cream, look down, see the bottom of the container and feel all the guilt! So for our second Fun Friday post (see the first here) we picked up a bunch of flavors from our nearest Target and decided to rank them from least favorite to favorite. Both of us each ranked them ourselves to see if we had similar opinions. Here’s what we came up with!

Cinnamon Roll

(Dallin – #7, Jessie – #4)

Dallin doesn’t like the Cinnamon Roll flavor at all. It tastes a lot like straight cinnamon without any sugar. It also has a really dough texture and almost feels doughy like a raw cinnamon roll. If you like cinnamon, give it a try, because you may love it!

Caramel Machiato

(Dallin – #5, Jessie – #7)

This was Jessie’s least favorite of the bunch. It has a caramel swirl in it, but it also has a really strong coffee taste, even though it doesn’t have any coffee in it. Since neither of us like coffee, this got a lower score.

Oatmeal Cookie

(Dallin – #6, Jessie – #6)

The name isn’t deceiving at all. This seriously tastes just like an oatmeal cookie. The problem we had was that it tasted like an oatmeal cookie made of only oatmeal, no other flavors. There are lots of pieces of oats throughout it. If you LOVE oatmeal, you’d probably love this flavor.

Birthday Cake

(Dallin – #4, Jessie – #5)

This is when we both began to start agreeing on flavors. The Birthday Cake flavor is really good. It tastes a ton like vanilla cake batter does. It has a smooth flavor rather than chalky like some of the others and it even has little sprinkles throughout. If you like birthday cake flavors, this is a good one!

Sea Salt Caramel

(Dallin – #3, Jessie – #3)

This one has a really strong caramel taste. It’s really similar to Werther’s Original candy. It’s one of the best from Halo Top and has a really smooth texture as well.

Peanut Butter Cup

(Dallin – #2, Jessie – #2)

If you like peanut butter and chocolate, this one is for you! The chocolate is a little bit more powerful than the peanut butter flavoring is, but it has slivers of peanut butter throughout and has a smooth texture. This one is a winner!

Candy Bar

(Dallin – #1, Jessie – #1)

Dallin is peanut butter obsessed, so you know if he chose Candy Bar over Peanut Butter Cup, that it has to be good. This one was a clear winner for both of us. It has pieces of candy bar throughout, which taste a lot like Snickers. It’s also very peanuty and chocolatey. It tastes the most like real ice cream, but it has been hard to find on the shelves until recently. When we went to pick up these pints, there were a ton of them on the shelf! Apparently word got around! If you only try one Halo Top, let this be the one!

Other Flavors

These were all the flavors they had at our store, but we know there are a bunch more out there that we didn’t review. Have you ever had Halo Top before? Comment below with your favorite flavor!
