An incredible wedding day
One of the biggest pieces of advice we would give to anyone getting married is to make it YOUR day. Make the day about you two, your relationship, and things that matter to you. We can promise that if you do that, you will definitely have a day that you will remember for the rest of your life and a more meaningful wedding day with you and your spouse. This wedding was a day we doubt ANYONE will forget. The two of them studied theatre together in college, and theatre continues to be a big part of their lives. When they were planning their wedding and reception, one thing led to another, and their wedding day ended up changing into a Broadway musical theatre wedding!
To give you an idea of how this worked: this couple didn’t say their vows, they sang them! They didn’t just cut the cake, they did it during a musical number to the tune of “Summer Nights”. They also reserved Peery’s Egyptian Theater in Ogden, Utah, and had their guests show up to watch their performance. Their first dance was choreographed and they had two past students, who have successful theater careers of their own, sing the song to their first dance. This wedding was next-level creative!
For our part… we have never really been a part of many plays or performances, so it was an experience going to rehearsal as photographers, and choreographing our footsteps to where we needed to stand, crouch, and in which direction we needed to each photograph to get the “shot”. We also dressed in all black like a stage crew to not distract from the performance, but still be able to get the photos we needed. Usually, a reception lasts 3 or so hours. Their “reception” was just minutes long, meaning we had to coordinate perfectly where we needed to be during each event. It was the biggest adrenaline rush we’ve had as photographers!
