Bonneville Salt Flats Sunset Wedding Formal Session

When we photographed Cali and Stetson’s engagements back in the first week of March, I don’t think any of us knew what was in store. Through quarantining, and having a wedding that was more of an elopement, many MANY things have transpired since then. So you can imagine how happy we were to see Cali and Stetson again for their Bonneville Salt Flats sunset wedding formal session. The Salt Flats were actually one of the first places that Cali and Stetson went to a few days after they were married (followed by watching the movie: The World’s Fastest Indian, a movie about a man who races a racing bike (brand named “Indians”) on the Salt Flats. Their engagements were also on the other side of the Great Salt Lake – Antelope Island, so it was only fitting that their formal session be at the Bonneville Salt Flats!
One of our favorite games to play with couples is to have them try to guess a color at the same time, and then use that to get their reaction when they both guess the same (or not the same) color. The funny thing about Cali and Stetson is that they could never guess the same color! The last time we did it, we overheard their quiet scheming and whispering to each other about what to guess the next time we asked them to guess a color… so being one step ahead of them… we surprised them with something else! As luck would have it, right before we left the Salt Flats, the moon positioned itself in the perfect spot during sunset. We couldn’t have asked for it to be placed any more perfect.
