The sun was shining and unusually warm for November. Even though fall had hit its peak and most trees had no leaves, for some reason, these trees held on. The trees had survived a few frosts already, which meant that the leaves that they were somehow holding onto still had a wonderful white glow from the perfect light produced by the sun. It was almost like cotton was growing on them (not popcorn… that’s a different season… and that only happens on apricot trees).

You can call it karma, a blessing from God, or just plain old luck, but the weather was smiling on these two this day. It probably had to do with the fact that it was Veteran’s Day, which would be fitting since Jevon is a Veteran. We’ve been in Layton long enough to meet families with loved ones who are serving our country in the Air Force. During this time, we’ve learned that the sacrifice for military members is not just for the person who has left their home to serve their country, but also a sacrifice that all of their loved ones make too.
Jevon and Sydney have been dating since they first met in high school band five years ago. Jevon made the decision to enlist in the Air Force and was eventually stationed here in Utah. After this move, Sydney decided that she was also going to move across the country to be with him. She made a willing sacrifice to be with the person that she loves. So, when we say that the weather was being nice, we mean it was being good to both of them, for both of their sacrifices and their commitment and love towards another.
Sydney and Jevon, congratulations on your engagement! We hope you have an amazing wedding in your home state! It has truly been a pleasure to get to know the both of you. We are so grateful for the sacrifices that you have made, and know that being willing to make sacrifices for each other will produce a strong and happy marriage. We wish you luck on your future endeavors!
