Kat & Chris
It was so dark that it was hard to see the person in each car as they drove past. The air was calm, not too chilly, but being a sunrise session at a popular place like Arches National Park, we had to be at the trailhead a little bit earlier than sunrise if we were to catch the sun in the perfect spot as it came through the windows. Then, we saw a car pull-up, a door open, and saw a couple of familiar faces illuminated by the car’s interior lights. “Hey guys… Chris, are you wearing a bow-tie?! That’s so awesome!!” Kat and Chris SHOWED UP for their Arches National Park and Dead Horse Point engagement! Dressed to the nines, this would most definitely be an Adventure Engagement Session to remember!
Kat and Chris have been together for a few years now. One thing that they love to do is travel to new and exciting places. They told us how some of their favorite memories have been in places that they’ve traveled, so it was natural to find an adventurous place for engagement photos. After COVID-19 made it impossible to travel out to Boston for engagements, an Arches National Park and Dead Horse Point engagement was a close second option for them.
As we climbed our way on the dimly lit path to the windows, chatting about each other’s drive. We got set inside one of the famous windows arches, and waited for the sun to come up with a few other onlookers. The view was breathtaking. Red rock cliffs and arches filled our view, a perfect background for an epic morning shoot. The next stop on our adventure was Dead Horse Point for sunset.
“Don’t get too close!” Jessie said in a panic as Dallin was walking over to the ledge to get a better look over the 1000 foot drop-off. Small cars, looking like ant-automobiles traveled around the river that looked like a windy green snake below. Seemingly impossible, this view at Dead Horse Point was even more awe-inspiring than the one at Arches earlier that same day.
The wind had picked up, which made small rocks and sand feel like a small sand blaster on our skin at times, but there was no turning back now! Kat and Chris willingly continued against the odds of the weather, and the terrifying drops around them, resulting in a memorable experience with stories to tell for a long time. Even after a long day, as the sun went down and we were just about to leave, the clouds decided to put on what looked like a fireworks show, lighting up the sky in yellows, purples, and pinks. We had already started packing up, but we couldn’t give up the chance for such an amazing backdrop at a location like this. Quickly, Dallin unpacked our gear, and we finished the day with a few shots none of us will soon forget.
Kat and Chris! Thank you for adventuring with us for your Arches National Park and Dead Horse Point engagement session, and going through waking up early and withstanding the crazy winds and steep drop-offs for these photos! We are so excited for what the future holds for you two!
