Jena & Kade
“We can go out there if you guys think that’ll be the best location” “Are you sure?” Dallin said to Jena and Kade as they looked out over a scene with a frozen lake and snowy mountains. We had just found an awesome place to do portraits, but the path to the spot included walking over cattails covered in encrusted snow, meaning that there was a big risk of it not being completely stable. Since Kade was dressed up in a suit and Jena in a dress, we were worried that they’d dirty up their clothes as we adventured to this location during their Mountain Green winter engagement session.
It was also pretty dang chilly for engagement photos when you’re dressed to the nines, but nothing could stop these two from doing what it took to get amazing photos. We would definitely say that these two earned their gold star in the winter wedding club! To keep Jena and Kade from falling, we carefully led them through the encrusted snow, like Indiana Jones trying to step his way through the Holy Grail Temple without falling through to his utter demise. This was only effective for a few steps before Dallin had plummeted through the snow up to his hip, with Jessie following the same fate right behind him. However, after pulling ourselves out of the snow a few times, we continued forward, creating a path of safety for Jena and Kade to successfully follow. Even though the snow was a different landscape than a field of sunflowers (Jena’s favorite), it still was a breathtaking scene, far worth the sacrifice of falling through the snow multiple times.
When Kade proposed to Jena, they went to a place Kade frequented during duck hunting season, and as they walked, a person that was special in their lives handed them a sunflower while saying a few words to them. At the end, Kade proposed with a ring containing sunflower-like designs around each stone. A perfect reminder of the day he asked her to marry him.
Jena and Kade, you are troopers to say the least! Thank you for being so awesome with photos in the cold during your Mountain Green winter engagement session. We are so excited for your formals and wedding day! We feel lucky to have the opportunity to serve such awesome and adventurous people like yourselves, and hope that you love these photos as much as we do!
