Chivalry tends to bring many images into our heads when we hear it. Images of a knight in shining armor ready to defeat an angry dragon attacking a town of women and children. In modern times, maybe it is someone literary taking the coat off of their back to give to someone they care about. As Nathan reached into his pocket and pulled out a handkerchief for Rachel, and as he held her bouquet for her at times during these winter formals at the Utah State Capitol, we realized that we were seeing a perfect image of modern chivalry. Not only was Nathan willing to do anything he could for his soon to be wife, he was prepared so that he could help her with anything that she needed.

There may be many who try and say how chivalry is dead, or that it’s not needed anymore. We’ll leave those for other great minds to debate. What we do know, is that Nathan and Rachel will do anything for each other, because that is how they show each other their love. You may call it chivalry or some other name, but whatever you want to call it, it really comes down to love. When we see these kinds of actions during an engagement or formal session, we know that we are seeing the beginning of a long and beautiful marriage.
The parasol that Rachel brought was her Great-Great Grandmother’s that she made in 1910. It was a unique but also fitting touch to this session. We love when there are details from ancestors brought into a wedding session. Not only does it honor them, but also shows how willing brides and grooms are to continue a legacy left by those that have gone before. From these winter formals at the Utah State Capitol, we can say with surety that Nathan and Rachel will continue to show their love for each other throughout their existence together.
Rachel and Nathan, congrats! Even though we have only known you for a very short time, we can tell that you are perfect for each other and make each other very happy. We are so excited for your wedding day and know that you will have a very successful and happy marriage because of your love and devotion to each other. Thank you so much for allowing us to serve you during this time, it has been a real treat to both of us!
