The holidays are the perfect season for your guy (or yourself!) to “pop” the question in Utah and across the United States! In fact about 40% of proposals happen between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day! This means that proposal season is upon us, and as soon as that ring is on your finger you will probably start dreaming about your wedding and all its details! When you are looking for that perfect photographer for your Utah wedding, one of the things that you need to keep an eye out for is if they offer engagement sessions. Maybe you think an engagement session isn’t a big deal, or your friend is going to do yours for you. Before you make that final decision, here are our top three reasons why YOU need an engagement session!

In Utah, engagement periods typically range from one year to three months before the wedding date. We’ve even had a wedding where we met our couple one month before their wedding. That was definitely not the ideal situation for us or for them. Weddings require WAY more planning than you would expect, especially if you are doing it on your own and aren’t hiring a professional planner and designer.

Engagement sessions allow us to connect and get to know you and your fiancé before the busy wedding day. We love hanging out and chatting with our couples and we believe it builds an essential connection. When we get to shoot your engagement pictures, we learn about you, your interests and what poses and prompts work the best for you both. Candid images are our favorite to capture because they show the real you and let your personalities shine. That’s a huge difference maker when it comes to your actual wedding day!

3. To Make the Wedding Day a Breeze!

You might have a friend that is doing your engagement pictures. Maybe you’ve known them forever, or they were your college roommate that is looking to build their own photography business. We can’t blame you or them one bit for having them take your engagement pictures, it’s a great experience for the both of you.
