Our 5 Favorite Wedding Exit Ideas

Tips and Tricks to Have a Grand Exit to Remember!

Imagine the crowds cheering you on as you race off to your honeymoon! Wedding exits are worth every minute that they take on your wedding day, and are the perfect ending to one of the happiest days of your life! One tip if you really want to have a memorable or unique wedding exit is to have some kind of unique getaway vehicle ready for you. Classic cars, tandem bicycles, motorcycles, or even ski lifts make for some incredible pictures and memories for you and your guests.  We’re getting ahead of ourselves though, because before you run off into the sunset with your new spouse, you need to figure out what kind of exit you want to do. Here are some of our favorite wedding exit ideas!

1. Sparkler Exits

Sparkler exits are classic, fun, and our absolute favorite wedding exit ideas! There’s something about fireworks that can make even the grumpiest person smile. Jessie is from Wyoming, so fireworks are in her blood! At our wedding reception we had fireworks, and even Roman Candles that we lit off. If you get the right kind of sparklers and take care to make sure everyone is safe, you and your guests will not regret your decision to do a sparkler exit. You may even be lucky enough to run through the sparklers twice! To find out more tips for doing a sparkler exit the right way, click here. Also, the VERY BEST sparklers on the market are the ones from Utah Sparklers. The 36″ ones will last up to three minutes and glow brighter than any other kind we’ve seen.

2. Bubbles

Bubbles are a cheap, easy, and safe wedding exit option. They also look good in the daylight, but even better at night. When they are illuminated by off camera flash they look incredible! For the best effects in your pictures add a bubble machine or two near doors where you start your exit. You can also personalize the bubble containers with your names, a cute saying, or anything else and your guests can take them home with them after the reception is over. Get yourself some bubble guns, or bubble machines to make a huge difference. In our experience the bubble guns work the best and can be more reliable.

3. Rose Petals

Rose petals are one of the most romantic wedding exit ideas! Many couples will place them in paper cones or containers, with a cute saying, for guests to pick up before the exit. You’ll want to plan on 1 cup of rose petals per guest in the exit line. If you are worried that the petals might be wet and slippery by the time your exit comes around, you can order freeze dried rose petals online and also from local shops. Flyboy Naturals website is a good place to start looking.

We also love doing petal tosses at outdoor wedding ceremonies during couple’s portraits after the ceremony! An idea to really make your outdoor ceremony shine is to talk with your florist about creating a design with rose petals in the aisle that you will walk down when you get married. We can then use some of those extra rose petals to get some incredible pictures of the two of you together during your couple’s portraits!

You will want to make sure that the venue you are at will be okay with you doing a petal toss, because they do require cleanup. If you need to cleanup on your own be sure to bring big brooms to sweep them up quickly and easily.

4. Lightsabers and Glow Sticks

If you want to make sure the Force is strong with your marriage, you should consider doing a lightsaber and glow stick exit! This would be a total blast for anyone that is a huge Star Wars fan, and we know it’s on our bucket list to experience! To save money, you can hand out light sabers to your wedding party and give out glow sticks to everyone else in the exit tunnel. The glow sticks can be worn and also held up and waved.

5. Ribbon Wands

Ribbon wands are an easy and inexpensive choice for your wedding exit. They don’t require any cleanup, but if you make them DIY, they will take some extra time. You can personalize the ribbon in your wedding colors, and even mix up the types of fabric for a more unique and interesting look. We’ve even heard of people tying bells onto some of them to fit with the classic wedding tradition of ringing bells. Bells used to be rung to signal to rural communities of an event happening at a church, and also to ward off evil spirits. So either way you can’t lose with bells, right?

We LOVE photographing wedding exits. While, one of our all-time favorites is sparkler exits we’re also up for any of the ideas we discussed in this blog post and have a few of them on our bucket list! Having a wedding exit, even if it is a faux exit is a blast for you and your guests. If you still need some more convincing, check out this blog post!
